My name is Emma Jane Tett and I am the author of "The Kingdom of Malinas." I was born on the 14th of May 1982 in Somerset, England.  I left school at sixteen and attended Cannington College where I studied for a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Care.  I have also completed an NCFE course in Photography and the Academy of Children's Writers course on, well, writing for children!

I have been writing stories since primary school, originally writing anthropomorphic animal stories before moving on to fantasy stories.  I believe in strong female characters and plenty of emotion and action in a story.  My favourite authors are Robin Hobb, George R.R. Martin and J.V. Jones.  I'm also a big fan of Phillip Pullman and Jonathan Stroud.

My favourite animals are rats, wolves and dragons and I always try to give these animals an appearance in my writing, although there are no rat characters in the Kingdom of Malinas! Maybe some will show up in the next two instalments?!

Other interests of mine include Karate - I am currently a blue belt in Wado Ryu, and playing with my two rats, Pancakes and Shae.

The Kingdom of Malinas was originally written when I was 17, but has been altered since then!
